Thompson Street Opera Company was founded in 2011, based in a tiny studio apartment on Thompson Street in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Our first production, Ezra Donner's Antigone, was an overwhelming success and an immeasurably rewarding experience for all involved.  
 
As a way to pay homage to our humble beginnings, we decided to keep the name even though we are no longer based in Ann Arbor.
 
Since 2013 we have produced a festival season of new works each summer in Louisville, Kentucky, and have recently expanded our reach to Chicago, IL through a partnership with Stage 773.
